Learn how drivers start a tonnage job, complete pickups and drop-offs, enter ticket weight details, upload ticket photos, and stop the job when finished.

Use this article to run a tonnage job in the TruckIT mobile app.

A tonnage job is a job where material is tracked by weight. As you complete each load, the app may ask you to enter ticket information such as the ticket number and weight, upload a ticket photo if required, and continue the pickup and drop-off cycle until the job is complete.

Before you begin

Make sure you have:

  • Downloaded the TruckIT mobile app
  • Logged in with your TruckIT username and password
  • Confirmed you are linked to the correct truck
  • Been assigned to the correct tonnage job
  • Reviewed the pickup and drop-off locations
  • Confirmed the material you are hauling
  • A paper or digital ticket available, if required
  • Location services enabled, if required by your company

If you do not see your job in My Jobs, contact your dispatcher.

Open your tonnage job

  1. Open the TruckIT mobile app.
  2. Tap My Jobs.
  3. Find the tonnage job you are running today.
  4. Tap View Job.

Review the job details before starting. Confirm the pickup site, drop-off site, material, job notes, and any ticket requirements.

Start the job

  1. From the job details screen, tap Start Job.
  2. Follow the directions to the pickup location.

Only start the job when you are ready to begin work for that assignment.

Complete pickup

After your truck is loaded at the pickup site:

  1. Tap Pickup Complete.
  2. Enter the ticket information if prompted.
  3. Enter the ticket number.
  4. Enter the ticket weight or tonnage.
  5. Review the information for accuracy.
  6. Tap Submit or continue to the next step.

Enter ticket weight carefully. This information may be used for job tracking, reporting, billing, and ticket review.

Go to the drop-off location

After pickup is complete, follow the app directions to the drop-off site.

Before leaving the pickup site, confirm that the ticket number and weight were entered correctly if the app required those fields.

Complete drop-off

After you arrive at the drop-off site and unload the material:

  1. Tap Drop-Off Complete.
  2. If prompted, take a photo of the ticket.
  3. Make sure the ticket photo is clear.
  4. Submit the ticket photo.

Your company may require a ticket photo, also called a TicPic, so the office team can review the ticket later.

Repeat the load cycle

After completing the drop-off, continue running loads as directed.

Repeat this cycle:

  1. Go to the pickup site.
  2. Get loaded.
  3. Tap Pickup Complete.
  4. Enter ticket number and weight if required.
  5. Go to the drop-off site.
  6. Unload the material.
  7. Tap Drop-Off Complete.
  8. Upload a ticket photo if required.

Continue until the job is complete or your dispatcher tells you to stop.

Stop the job

When you are finished working the tonnage job:

  1. Tap Stop Job.
  2. Review any final prompts.
  3. Submit any required final information.

Only tap Stop Job when you are done running loads for that job.

Tips for entering ticket weight

Ticket weight is one of the most important details on a tonnage job.

Before submitting, check:

  • Ticket number
  • Gross, tare, or net weight, depending on your company’s process
  • Tons or weight value
  • Material
  • Date
  • Pickup location
  • Drop-off location

If you are not sure which weight value to enter, contact your dispatcher before submitting the ticket.

Tips for taking a clear ticket photo

If the app asks for a ticket photo, make sure the image is easy to read.

A good ticket photo should show:

  • The full ticket
  • Ticket number
  • Weight or tonnage
  • Material name, if shown
  • Date and time, if shown
  • Clear text without glare, shadows, or blur

Retake the photo before submitting if anything is cut off or hard to read.

Best practices for drivers

Use the app throughout the job so your load, ticket, and tonnage records stay accurate.

Recommended best practices:

  • Confirm the correct truck before starting.
  • Review the job details before tapping Start Job.
  • Tap Pickup Complete only after the truck is loaded.
  • Enter ticket number and weight carefully.
  • Confirm the unit of measure before submitting ticket details.
  • Tap Drop-Off Complete only after unloading.
  • Take a clear ticket photo if required.
  • Do not tap Stop Job until you are finished for the day.
  • Contact dispatch if job details, ticket weight, or material information looks wrong.
