Set Up Anomaly Alerts in the TruckIT Portal (video)
Learn how to turn on anomaly alerts for idle time, crowded zones, slow trips, late drivers, and missing tickets.
Use this article to turn on anomaly alerts in the TruckIT Web Portal.
Anomaly alerts help your team identify job activity that may need attention, such as trucks idling too long, crowded jobsite zones, slow trips, late drivers, or missing tickets.
Before you begin
Make sure you are logged in to the TruckIT Web Portal.
You may need permission to manage company notification settings. If you do not see My Company, Settings, or Notifications, contact your company administrator or TruckIT Support.
Before turning on anomaly alerts, confirm which alerts your team wants to use and what threshold values make sense for your operation.
Open anomaly alert settings
- Log in to the TruckIT Web Portal.
- Go to My Company.
- Select Settings.
- Open the Notifications section.
- Find Anomaly Detection alerts.
You will see several alert options that can be turned on or off.
Choose which anomaly alerts to use
You can turn on the anomaly alerts that are most useful for your team.
You do not need to use every alert. Start with the alerts that match the issues your team wants to monitor most closely.
Idle Time
Turn on Idle Time alerts if you want to know when a driver or truck has been idle for too long.
This may help your team identify possible delays such as:
- Traffic
- Long wait times
- Tire issues
- Engine issues
- Jobsite backups
- Driver delays
Use an idle-time threshold that gives your team useful alerts without creating too many unnecessary notifications.
Crowded Zone
Turn on Crowded Zone alerts if you want to know when too many trucks are inside one of your geo zones.
This can help identify backups at locations such as:
- Quarries
- Pits
- Pickup sites
- Drop-off sites
- Jobsites
Crowded zone alerts can help dispatchers and operations teams identify congestion before it slows down the job.
Slow Trip
Turn on Slow Trip alerts if you want to know when a driver is taking longer than expected to complete a run.
A slow trip may be caused by:
- Traffic
- Route delays
- Site congestion
- Long wait times
- Driver or truck issues
- Unexpected changes in job conditions
Use this alert to help your team spot delays and decide whether action is needed.
Late Driver
Turn on Late Driver alerts if you want to know when a driver is late to the pickup site.
This alert can help dispatchers respond faster when a job may be delayed because a truck has not arrived on time.
Missing Ticket
Turn on Missing Ticket alerts if you want to know when ticket activity does not match truck or driver activity.
For example, this alert may help identify when the number of tickets does not match the number of times a truck or driver entered or exited geo zones.
Missing ticket alerts can help your team catch ticket issues earlier, reduce manual follow-up, and keep job records more accurate.
Adjust alert values
After selecting the anomaly alerts your team wants to use, review and adjust the values for each alert.
Alert values should match your operation. For example, a normal idle-time threshold may be different depending on your job type, site conditions, or market.
When setting values, consider:
- Typical loading and unloading times
- Average trip length
- Jobsite congestion
- Pickup and drop-off locations
- Truck volume
- Time sensitivity of the job
- How often your team wants to receive alerts
Save your anomaly alert settings
After turning on the alerts and adjusting values:
- Review the enabled toggles.
- Confirm the alert values.
- Click Save.
Your anomaly alert settings will now be applied.
Where anomaly alerts appear
After anomaly alerts are enabled, notifications may appear in two places:
- As a red real-time notification in the bottom-right corner of the screen
- In the dashboard notification feed
Use the dashboard notification feed to review alert activity during the day.
Best practices for using anomaly alerts
Start with a small set of alerts and adjust settings over time.
Recommended best practices:
- Turn on the alerts that match your biggest operational pain points.
- Avoid enabling every alert at once if your team is new to anomaly detection.
- Set realistic thresholds to reduce unnecessary notifications.
- Review alert activity daily at first.
- Adjust values if alerts are too frequent or not frequent enough.
- Train dispatchers on what action to take when each alert appears.
- Use alerts as a signal to investigate, not as proof that something went wrong.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the Notifications section
Your user role may not have permission to manage notification settings. Contact your company administrator or TruckIT Support.
I turned on an alert, but I am not seeing notifications
Confirm that the alert toggle is on, the values are set correctly, and your changes were saved.
I am getting too many alerts
Adjust the alert values so they better match your operation. You may also want to turn off alerts that are not useful for your team.
I am not getting enough alerts
Review the threshold values. They may be set too high or too low depending on the type of alert.
A missing ticket alert appeared, but the ticket exists
Review the job, truck, driver, and geo-zone activity. The alert may indicate a mismatch that needs to be reviewed.
