TruckIT Samsara Integration | API Token

We walk you through the process of getting started with your TruckIT Samsara Integration

Samsara → Find your API token (API key)

1. Log in to Samsara

  • Go to the Samsara Dashboard and sign in.

2. Open your Settings

  • In the left navigation, click Settings (or the gear icon).

3. Navigate to API / Developer settings

  • In Settings, look for one of these (wording can vary by account):
    • API Tokens
    • Developer Settings
    • Integrations
    • API

4. Create a new API token (recommended)

  • Click Create token / Generate token / New API token
  • Name it (recommendation): TruckIT Integration
  • If Samsara prompts for Scopes/Permissions, choose the minimum needed for integration (common ones are read access for fleet/assets, drivers, vehicles, trips, sites, etc.). If you’re unsure, select the default read scopes and TruckIT can confirm what’s required.

5. Copy the token

  • Click Copy and paste it somewhere secure temporarily.

Send the token to TruckIT securely

What to include with the token

Include:

  • Company name
  • Best contact (name + email + phone)

Troubleshooting

  • Can’t find “API Tokens”: they may need an Admin role. Ask them to have a Samsara admin generate the token.
  • Token not visible again: create a new token—Samsara often won’t show the full token after you leave the page.
  • Permission errors later: update token scopes/permissions or regenerate with the correct scopes.
