Dispatch a Split-Load Job in the TruckIT Portal

Learn how to dispatch a split-load job by selecting a truck, turning on Split Dispatch, and choosing a mid site.

Use this article to dispatch a split-load job in the TruckIT Web Portal.

A split-load job is used when a dispatched truck needs to include an additional stop or mid site as part of the job workflow. This helps your team assign the job accurately and make sure the correct route details are included before the job is saved.

Before you begin

Make sure you are logged in to the TruckIT Web Portal.

You may need permission to create or manage dispatches. If you do not see Projects and Sites, Split Dispatch, or Save Job, contact your company administrator or TruckIT Support.

Before dispatching a split-load job, confirm:

  • The correct project
  • The truck you want to dispatch
  • The pickup and drop-off details
  • The mid site location
  • Any job notes or driver instructions
  • Whether the job should be dispatched as a split-load job

 Open the project

1. Log in to the TruckIT Web Portal.

2.  Go to Projects and Sites

3.  Select the project you want to dispatch.

Review the project before continuing so you know you are dispatching from the correct project.

Start a split dispatch

1. From the selected project, click Split Dispatch.

2.  Select the truck you want to dispatch.

3. Confirm the Split Dispatch toggle is turned on.

The split dispatch toggle must be on before you select the mid site and save the job.

Select the mid site

The Mid Site is the additional location used for the split-load job.

1. Click Mid Site.

2. Select the correct location from the list.

3. Review the selected mid site before saving.

Choose the mid site carefully. This location helps define the split-load workflow and should match the job instructions your driver needs to follow.

Save the job

After the truck and mid site are selected:

  1. Review the split-load dispatch details.
  2. Confirm the truck assignment.
  3. Confirm the Split Dispatch toggle is on.
  4. Confirm the correct Mid Site location is selected.
  5. Click Save Job.

The split-load job is now saved.

When to use split dispatch

Use split dispatch when a job requires an additional location or mid-point as part of the hauling workflow.

Common examples may include:

  • A job with an intermediate stop
  • A job that requires a mid-site handoff
  • A job where the truck needs to include another location between pickup and drop-off
  • A dispatch workflow where the standard pickup-to-drop-off route is not enough

If the job only requires a standard pickup and drop-off, use the regular dispatch workflow instead.

Best practices for split-load dispatching

Split-load jobs can create confusion if the mid site or truck assignment is wrong, so review the details before saving.

Recommended best practices:

  • Confirm the correct project before clicking Split Dispatch.
  • Select the correct truck.
  • Make sure Split Dispatch is toggled on.
  • Choose the correct Mid Site.
  • Add driver notes if the route or stop instructions need clarification.
  • Confirm the job details before clicking Save Job.
  • Review the job after saving to make sure it appears correctly.

Troubleshooting

I do not see Split Dispatch

Your user role may not have permission to use split dispatch, or the feature may not be enabled for your account. Contact your company administrator or TruckIT Support.

I cannot select a mid site

Confirm that the mid site location exists and is available for the selected project or account. If the site is missing, it may need to be created first.

The Split Dispatch toggle is off

Turn the Split Dispatch toggle on before saving the job.

I selected the wrong truck

Go back before saving and select the correct truck. If the job has already been saved, edit the job if your permissions allow it.

I selected the wrong mid site

Update the mid site before saving. If the job has already been saved, review the job details and edit the dispatch if your permissions allow it.

The split-load job did not save

Confirm that all required fields are complete, including the truck, Split Dispatch toggle, and mid site. Then try saving again.
